Dr. Lotte Pelckmans is an associate professor based at the Centre for Advanced Migration Studies at the University of Copenhagen. She obtained her Master’s degree in anthropology from Leiden University, her PhD at the African Studies Centre in Leiden and has worked in Dutch, French, German and Danish academia. Her work focuses mainly on francophone west Africa and can be situated on the crossroads between migration and slavery studies. She has published on security & conflict, social media, rights & inequalities, displacement, authorship, gender and anti-slavery movements in post-slavery West Africa and its diaspora. Apart from teaching, supervising and publishing, Lotte Pelckmans also engages in documentary filmmaking.
