
Nina Simone (b. Tryon, USA, 1933 – d. 2003, Carry-le-Rouet, France) was a Black American jazz singer and composer who lived in Switzerland and then in Paris between 1981 and 1983. She was a good friend of other Black American expatriates, such as the intellectual author James Baldwin.
