Amalia Fleming (b. Constantinople, Ottoman Empire, 1912 – d. Athens, Greece, 1986) was born in Constantinople, and she and her family fled to Athens during WWI. She studied medicine, specifically bacteriology, at the University of Athens where she worked until World War II when she joined the resistance movement. After the war she moved to the UK where she worked and married for the second time. She later moved back to Greece but was deported and was instrumental in letting the world know about the Greek junta, contributing to its eventual fall.
