Anita Garibaldi (b. Laguna, Brazil, 1821 – d. 1849, Mandriole, Italy), born Ana Maria de Jesus Ribeiro, was a Brazilian republican revolutionary. She was the wife and comrade-in-arms of Italian revolutionary Giuseppe Garibaldi. A hero of both Brazil and Italy, she possessed exceptional physical and emotional courage, actively participating in her husband’s struggles for liberty and national self-determination in South America and Italy.
