Statue of Sissi

Elisabeth, Duchess Elisabeth Amalie Eugenie in Bavaria (b. 1837, Munich, Kingdom of Bavaria – d. 1898, Geneva, Switzerland), nicknamed Sissi, was Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary from her marriage to Emperor Franz Joseph I on 24 April 1854 until her assassination in 1898. The bust depicts the Austrian Empress and Hungarian Queen Elisabeth of Bavaria, called Sissi, and its creation is connected with Elizabeth’s visit to Prešov, or in the vicinity of Prešov, in 1895 when she was returning from the Bardejov spa after a three-week medical stay.
