Street named after Alexandra David-Néel

    Alexandra David-Néel (b. Tunis, Tunisia, 1868 – d. 1969, Digne, France) moved with her family to Belgium at the age of two. She was an enthusiastic traveler from an early age and converted to Buddhism in 1889, studying Sanskrit and Tibetan in Paris. She lived outside of Europe for much of her life, including time spent in Indochina, Tunis, India, Japan, Korea, China, Mongolia, and Tibet. She was a writer, explorer, opera singer, intellectual, and spiritualist but is best known for her books on Eastern religion and her travels to Tibet.
