Street named after Olena Teliha

    Olena Teliha (b. Ilyinskoe, Russia, 1906 – d. 1942, Babi Yar, Ukraine) was a poet and Ukrainian activist. She moved to Czechoslovakia as a child and later to Ukraine. After marriage, she moved to Poland, but they moved back to Nazi-occupied Kyiv, where she worked as the head of the Ukrainian Writers’ Guild. She refused to flee Ukraine during WWII and was executed for her activism in 1942.
