Elsie Inglis and Scottish Women’s Hospitals collections archive photograph collections digitised and available online 

    The Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh holds the archive of the Scottish Women’s Hospitals photographs during the First World War, including the Elsie Inglis collection, viewable online and in-person through a contact form. Eliza Maud « Elsie » Inglis (16 August 1864 – 26 November 1917) was a Scottish medical doctor, surgeon, teacher, suffragist, and founder of the Scottish Women’s Hospitals. Born in British India as her father worked for the East India Company, and died in England, she was the first woman to hold the Serbian Order of the White Eagle. She studied in Edinburgh and Paris, and visited the USA to improve her practice.
