Euphrosyne N. Dragoumis Papers

The collection contains, amongst other, the family correspondence of Efrosyni Dragoumi, her passport (1857) and house rental contract in Paris (1860-61). Efrosyni was born in Constantinople in 1818, and was the daughter of a Greek merchant, Stefanos Georgantas. With the beginning of the Greek Revolution (1821), at the age of three, Ephrosyny was taken to Odessa, where she remained for ten years, attending the girls’ school « Ecole de Noblesse ». In 1831 she went to Nafplio (Greece), where her family had settled and later followed her to Athens. In 1839 she married Nikolaos Dragoumis, with whom she had four children.
