Personal fonds of Halldór and Susie Briem

    This fonds contains the letters and personalia of Susie Briem (1861-1937) and her husband Halldór Briem (1852-1929). Susie Stuart was the Anglo-Canadian niece and foster-daughter of John Taylor, who led the movement in Canada to encourage immigration from Iceland. Susie and Halldór married in 1880 and returned to Halldór’s birthplace of Iceland, where they settled in Reykjavík.
