Collection: Clara Campoamor | Clara Campoamor (Spain, Switzerland, Argentina,1958-2000)
Description: Clara Campoamor (1888-1972) was a Spanish lawyer, politician, writer, one of the great defenders of women’s rights in Spain. She processed the first divorce cases in Spain and pushed for universal suffrage in Spain. She left Spain for Switzerland at the outbreak of the Civil War, then lived in exile in Buenos Aires (Argentina) between 1938-1955. She then moved back to Lausanne (Switzerland) where she passed away in 1972.
