Collection title: Malala Yousafzai (UK: 2018)

Description: Malala Yousafzai is the youngest Nobel Peace Prize laureate, a human rights and women’s rights activist who left Pakistan after the Taliban took over the Swat Valley and she was heinously attacked. She now lives in the UK. The National Portrait Gallery of London hosts several different archival primary collections of photographic albums that contain women migrants. Malala Yousafzai (b. 1997) is merely one example from the vast collection of portrait images. The National Portrait Gallery owns a pair of portraits of the human rights advocate by Iranian photographer Shirin Neshat, which Neshat hand-inscribed with a poem from 2011 about Malala and her activism for women’s education.
