    Collection title: Eileen Gray, architect, furniture and interior designer: papers (UK: 1913–1974)

    Description: Eileen Gray (1878–1972), known as “the Mother of Modernism,” was born in Ireland but spent her childhood and youth in London, where she studied painting and learned the art of lacquer work and cabinet making. She moved to Paris in 1902. She established herself as a leading interior designer and architect. She died in Paris, France in 1972.
