Andrea Caracausi is Associate Professor at the University of Padua and specializes in the early modern social and economic history of Italy and the Mediterranean World, with a focus on guilds, women’s work, child labour and legal proceedings.
He received a B.A. in History (University of Padua) and a Ph.d. in Economic and Social History (Bocconi University). He has been a Research Fellow at the Universities of Bocconi-Milan (2007), Venice-Ca’ Foscari (2008-2010) and Padua (2011-2012). He received fellowships and research grants from several institutions as the “Gerda Henkel Foundation” (Düsseldorf), the Royal Society of Edinburgh (UK) and the Université Paris Est-Marne La Vallée (2017). Deputy Director of the Dissgea since October 2019, he is also the Coordinator of the Scientific Committee, Coordinator of the Steering Committee of the Excellence Program “Mobility & Humanities”, and Coordinator of the MA Curriculum “Mobility Studies”.
He has been the local coordinator of the Firb – Futuro in Ricerca 2012 project ‘Maritime Borders in the Mediterranean: how permeable are they? Exchange, Control and Deny of Access, 16th-21st century’, awarded by the MIUR (2013-2016).
