Joana Maria Pujadas-Mora

Joana Maria Pujadas-Mora is Associate professor at the Department of Arts and Humanities of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya and co-head of the Historical Demography area at the Center for Demographic Studies – Autonomous University of Barcelona. Until September 2020, she was Adjunct professor at the Department of Economic History of the University of Barcelona. She was granted competitive-funded visiting professorship positions at the Cambridge Group for the History of Population and Social Structure (UK); the Centre for Population Studies (Sweden); the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (USA); and the Centre for Economic Demography (Sweden).

Her research interests deal with 1) The relevance of public health policies during Demographic Transition (19th-20th centuries); 2) The time reduction in database construction through artificial intelligence using computer vision methods; 3) The evolution of migratory flows (15th-19th centuries); 4) The intergenerational transmission of social status, intermarriage and kinship marriages within the social reproduction process (15th–20th centuries) and 5) The economic inequality estimation and labour markets formation from a gender perspective within preindustrial and industrial periods.

Her research has led to the publication of 27 articles in flagship national and international peer-reviewed journals, 3 books; 21 book chapters; and 93 papers presented at national and international conferences. She was invited to speak at 24 seminars and to deliver 1 keynote lecture. She has also published 2 book chapters on teaching innovation. Additionally, she has co-organize 11 workshops, 4 conferences and 3 summer schools.
