Pauliina Räsänen

Pauliina Räsänen is a culture historian (MA), circus artist and illusionist from Finland. She graduated from the elite institution of performance arts, the National Circus School of Montreal in Canada. Pauliina has a Master’s degree in culture history. At the moment, Pauliina is pursuing her PhD degree and belongs to the research group Gender, Writing and Textuality at the University of Turku. The topic of her dissertation is « Celebrated but Forgotten: Female Magicians in Northern Europe 1880-1890 ». Her areas of expertation are culture history, gender history, female performers history, and circus and magic history.

Outside of academic circles, Pauliina has captivated audience with her skillful art at top-notch venues such as Cirque du Soleil, Komische Oper Berlin and Royal Albert Hall in London. Pauliina co-owns a circus and variety arts company ArtTeatro Ltd in Finland.
