So Young Chang

So Young is currently finishing her doctoral dissertation in Sociology at Bielefeld University on the topic of policies regarding domestic worker migration. She holds a Master’s degree in Development Studies from the Graduate Institute in Geneva and a Bachelor’s of Arts in International Relations from the University of British Columbia. She has lived, studied, and worked in Korea, Canada, Mexico, Turkey, Taiwan, Singapore, Switzerland, and Germany. From 2017 to 2020, she was a Research Fellow at the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA) where she was part of the “Every Immigrant Is an Emigrant” project, which looks comparatively at migration policy indicators across 32 cases in Asia, Europe, and Latin America. She currently works as Data and Knowledge Officer at IOM’s Global Migration Data Analysis Centre in Berlin. Her primary responsibility is supporting the Migration Network Hub as part of the capacity-building mechanism of the Global Compact for Migration.
