Catherine (aged 33) left UK in 2019 to Estonia.

Catherine has mainly migrated because of her career in academic research and she now works at the University of Tartu as a lecturer. She did not find integrating into Estonian society difficult partly because the university already has a support structure in place for incoming academic staff and because academics in general tend to be fairly mobile.

During her interview, she declares that “in the context of my family, my experience wasn’t so strange. As I said we spent a lot of time […] when I was growing up, we lived in France, we lived in the Netherlands, so it felt quite natural to me to move to a different country and work somewhere else. ”

Interview conducted by Janet Laidla on 14 December in Tartu.
