Evelina (aged 48) left Moldova in 2008 to the Netherlands and then returned.

Evelina moved for 7 years to the Netherlands in two stages. In 2008 as a 30+ years old mum of two young children, she left Moldova for a Master’s Degree, then she moved back to Moldova and again in 2014, she moved to the Netherlands for 3 years with her 3 young children. Now she is back in Moldova and works for the State University as Director of International Affairs and European Integration and also teaches.

She learnt a lot from the Dutch: she learnt discipline; trust in her professional skills; practicality; the Dutch language, and she ended up learning their philosophy of life – something that she truly admires and truly cherishes.

During her interview, she declared that “I teach. That brings me a lot of joy. Literally a lot of joy. Because if there is a chance to truly change the world that is trying to reach the brains and souls of the young people.”

For her, what best represents her migration experiences is the social capital she created – friends, community, experiences, networking and that enriched her life, and herself.
