Jane (aged 46) left Slovakia to Paris, France, in 2000
In 2005 she moved to Geneva (Switzerland), in 2006 to Paris, in 2008 to Dubai (Emirates), in 2010 to Prague (Czech Republic), in 2012 to Geneve (Switzerland), in 2013 to Bratislava (Slovakia), and in 2014 back to Paris (France).
During her interview, she declares: “I miss some moments from my childhood, although I am originally from Bratislava, but I spent a lot of time in Orava, in the mountains with my grandparents… I miss these moments. I try to return to Slovakia at least twice a year, because I miss it, it’s part of me, it’s my roots. I still feel like a Slovak, despite the fact that in the last 20 years I have also acquired French citizenship, I am more Slovak than French.”
For her, the object that best represents her migration experience is an embroided pillow.
