Castle named after Iulia Hasdeu (Campina, Romania)

Iulia Hasdeu (b. Bucarest, Romania, 1869 – d. Bucarest, Romania, 1888) was a Romanian poetess writing in both French and Romanian. She was the first Romanian student at the Sorbonne University and the Ecole des Hautes Etudes in Paris, France, where she sojourned for her secondary and university studies. Some of her work was published under a French pseudonym, Camille Armand, testifying to her mastery of French culture. She contracted tuberculosis and went back to Romania to die in 1888. Her father, who published her works posthumously both in French and Romanian, was very active in creating landmarks for her memorialization.
