
Princess Nathalie Tabone, nee Poutiatine (b. St Petersburg, Russia, 1903 – d. 1984, Malta), originally from a privileged and sheltered background in St. Petersburg, arrived in Malta in 1919 as a refugee after the Soviet revolution of 1917. She introduced and promoted classical ballet as an art with cultural and educational benefits. She established the first ballet school in Malta.
