School named after Maria Skłodowska-Curie (Lublin, Poland)

    Maria Skłodowska-Curie (b. Warsaw, Poland, 1867 – d. 1934, Passy, France), was a scientist and chemist, who was born in Warsaw, and moved to France in 1891. She studied natural sciences in Paris, later worked in the field of radioactivity, and became the first two-time female winner of the Nobel Prize and a winner in two different fields – physics and chemistry. She was a Polish and naturalized-French physicist and chemist who was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, and the only person to win the Nobel Prize in two scientific fields. She was the first woman to become a professor at the University of Paris in 1906.
