Statue named after Queen Mary of Romania (Buftea , Romania)

    Queen Mary of Romania (b. Kent, England, 1875 – d. 1938, Sinaia, Romania) was the niece of Queen Victoria who was of Russian origin. Marie’s early years were spent in Kent, Malta and Coburg. After refusing a proposal from her cousin, the future King George V, she was chosen as the future wife of Crown Prince Ferdinand of Romania. A statue of her can also be found in England. She had a fundamental contribution in the shaping of Great Romania and is remembered for her work as a nurse and her extensive writing, including her critically acclaimed autobiography.
