Annie Moore (b. Cork, Ireland, 1877 – d. 1924, Manhattan, USA) was the first emigrant ever registered at Ellis Island on 1 January 1892. A statue of Annie Moore and her two brothers is located outside Cobh Heritage Centre, and a similar statue of Annie was erected in Ellis Island, New York, representing her arrival as the first emigrant to pass through Ellis Island. The statue stands as a symbol of the Irish diaspora.
