Statue of Marina Tsvetaeva (Sainte Croix de Vie, France)

    Marina Tsvetaeva (b. Moscow, Russia, 1892 – d. 1941, Yelabuga, Russia) was a Russian poet. Her youth was spent in Genoa, Lausanne, and Paris. After she published Album du soir, she moved to Koktebel, Crimea, to live in the poet Voloshin’s house. She married in 1912 and returned to Moscow but soon was exiled for seventeen years to Paris. In 1939, she returned to the Soviet Union but was evacuated in 1941 to Yelabuga. She ended her life there.
