Louise Joséphine Bourgeois (b. Paris, France, 1911 – d. 2010, New York, USA) was a French-American artist. Although she is best known for her large-scale sculpture and installation art, Bourgeois was also a prolific painter and printmaker. She grew up and studied in Paris but moved to New York City with her husband in 1938, where her art career flourished.
