Street named after Zinka Kunc (Čakovec, Croatia)

    Zinka Kunc-Milanov (b. Zagreb, Croatia, 1906 – d. 1989, New York, USA) was a Croatian opera singer (soprano). She studied singing at the Academy of Music in Zagreb. From 1928 to 1935, she was the champion of the Zagreb Opera, and for some time she worked in Prague. In 1937, she performed for the first time at the Metropolitan in New York, where she lived. She was prima donna assoluta at the Met until 1966, with a break from 1947–51. She is the recipient of a special medal as one of 87 distinguished persons of foreign origin who have made New York and the USA indebted with their contribution.
