Melanija Vanaga (b. Kalna Sermuļi, Russian Empire, 1905 – 1997, Carnikava, Latvia) was one of the most ‘famous’ deportees. She wrote The Chronicles of Melanie about her deportation to Siberia, which was later turned into a film.
