Louise Catherine Breslau (b. Munich, Germany, 1856 – d. 1927, Paris, France) was a German naturalized Swiss painter. Breslau studied and worked in Paris. Her art attracted the attention of famous artists, such as Edgar Degas. The concrete barge Louise-Catherine was named after the wishes of Madeleine Zillhardt, who bought it in 1928 in order to give it to the Salvation Army, which took in the homeless.
