    Simone Adolphine Weil (b. Paris, France, 1909 – d.1943, Kent, UK) was a French philosopher, mystic, and political activist. Her fame is tied not only to an extensive body of essayistic and literary works but also to the dramatic existential events she experienced, from the decision to leave teaching to experience the conditions of labor, to her commitment as a partisan activist, despite persistent health problems.
