Square named after Gertrude Stein

    Gertrude Stein (b. Allegheny, Pennsylvania, 1874 – d. 1946, Neuilly, France) was an American poet, writer, playwright, and feminist. She spent most of her life in France and was a catalyst in the development of literature and modern art. Through her personal collection and her books, she contributed to the spread of Cubism, particularly to the work of Picasso, Matisse, and Cézanne.
