Swimming pool named after Josephine Baker

    The Joséphine Baker swimming pool was named after American singer naturalized French, Josephine Baker (b. Saint Louis, USA, 1906 – d. 1975, Paris, France). The pool opened in July 2006, following the creation of Paris Plages. It is a floating pool, moored at the port Quai de la Gare, at the foot of the François-Mitterrand library, in the 13th arrondissement of Paris. Freda Josephine McDonald, known as Josephine Baker, was a French singer, dancer, actress, magazine leader and resistance fighter of American origin, born on June 3, 1906 in Saint-Louis, Missouri, and died on April 12, 1975 in the 13th arrondissement of Paris.
