Tomb of Elizabeth Barrett Browning

    Elizabeth Barrett Browning (b. Durham, UK, 1806 – d. 1861, Florence, Italy) was a British poet. Elizabeth Barrett Browning, called EBB by friends, eloped to marry the British poet Robert Browning with whom she lived in Italy until her death in 1861. She is known for her political poems, such as Casa Guidi Windows (1851), and her celebration of love in such sonnets as Sonnets from the Portuguese (1850).
