Asian Voices Oral History Project Archive

Between July 2008 and June 2010, the University of Huddersfield’s Centre for Oral History Research (COHR) ran the Asian Voices Oral History Project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. In the 1960s, Great Britain enjoyed in-migration from India and Pakistan. The Asian Voices project aimed to collect the stories and experiences of Huddersfield’s first generation of Asian migrants, with oral history narratives from Pakistani and Indian women and men who discussed such topics as family, work, leisure and culture from the perspective of first-generation settlers of South Asian communities. The data consists in a collection of interviews with a focus on ‘migration and settlement’. The collection is composed of 1 portable hard drive with 107 files (digital formats include .mp3, .wma, .doc, .jpg, .au).
