Collection of Croatian short films

    The collection contains documentaries, short feature films, and animated films. The tradition of making short films continued after 1945, but the production of documentary and experimental films from the early 1990s started on video and digital recording due to the high price of film. The collection contains several short films about women migrant such as for instance Sremec, Rudolf, dir. Zemljo, primi me! [Earth, Receive me!], documentary, 1973, color, 16 min., Producers: Zagreb film, SDF. The film describes emigration from the Dalmatian hinterland, the difficult life of emigrant women and the inability of the State to ensure the return of emigrants. Another such example of documentary is Papic, Krsto, dir. Charter let broj… [Flight Number…]1975, color, 25 min., Producers: Zagreb film, SDF. The film tells the story of girls who went to Australia to get married there in search of a happy life. A third documentary is Krelja, Petar, dir. Ljubičin dar[Ljubica’s Gift]1994, color, 30 min, producer: Filmoteka 16. This film documents the life and work of self-taught sculptor Ljubica Matulec in her native village of Batinska in Podravina (Croatia) and her migration to Hamburg.
