Correspondence of the Dutch and Frisian Stadtholders’ Wives, 1605–1725

    The correspondence in this collection includes letters of Mary Stuart, Princess Royal and Princess of Orange (1631–1661). She was born in England but lived in the Netherlands. She was married in 1641, at the age of 9, to William II of Orange of the Netherlands. She was never very popular in the Netherlands. In 1660 she returned to London where she died of smallpox.
