Eileen Gray, architect, furniture and interior designer: Papers

    Eileen Gray (1878-1972), known as “the Mother of Modernism,” was born in Ireland but she spent her childhood and youth in London where she studied painting and learnt the art of lacquer work and cabinet making. She moved to Paris in 1902. She established herself as a leading interior designer and architect. She died in Paris, France.
