Elli Alexiou Papers

    The Collection contains letters, personal papers,documents from her political activity in Romania and written work of Greek paedagogist and writer Elli Alexiou. Elli Alexiou was born on 22.5.1894 in Heraklion, Crete (Greece). She worked from 1914 as a teacher and from 1919 as a French teacher. After her marriage in 1920 she settled in Athens. She studied at the German School of Athens (1921-1924) and at Sorbonne (1945-1948). After the Greek civil war (1945-1949) and until 1962 she lived in Romania and worked at the Children’s Aid Committee. In 1962 returned and remained in Greece until her death in 1988.
