Her father was Count Wulbrand of Loccum and Hallermund I and her mother was Countess Beatrix of Rheineck. Her paternal grandfather was Count Burchard of Loccum I and her maternal grandparents were Count Otto of Salm and Countess Gertrud of Northeim. She had three brothers and a sister, named Burchard, Ludolf, Wulbrand and Beatrix. She was the youngest of the five children.
