The Association was set up by emigrants from Reggio in 1930 with welfare purposes and with a strong anti-fascist characterization. Among the founders of the association was Gina Pifferi, who emigrated to France in 1936 because she was wanted by the fascist police. Militant in the French and Italian Resistance, she was a key political point of reference. The papers of the collection document her activity within the Association.
