Legacy of Willy and Brigitte Kressmann

    This archival fonds contains documentation on the married couple of Willy and Brigitte Kressmann. Brigitte Landsberg, born in Berlin in 1925 to a Jewish family, studied economics and law in Göttingen and Berlin. Due to the Nuremberg Laws, she was banned from studying, but in 1944 she was able to complete an internship at the Economic Group for Wholesale and Foreign Trade. In 1947 she married Gerhard Grossmann and worked from 1950 to 1955 as a clerk in the Senate of Berlin. In 1955 she married Syrian Abdullatif Succar, who worked as a civil servant at the UN. They moved to New York and later to Damascus. After her divorce in 1957, Brigitte Succar returned to Germany. From 1957 to 1958, she was head of protocol at the International Film Festival and the Berlin Festival and continued to work in the movie industry. In 1962 she married Willy Kressmann. She died in December 1985. Her personal and professional documents are preserved in this fonds, including birth, marriage and death certificates from the family, divorce decrees, certificates, ID cards, and medical reports, documents on travel and professional activity (certificates, PR work), her correspondence and photos.
