Personal fonds of Amalía Líndal (1928-1989)

    Amalía Líndal (born Amalia Gourdin), was an American-born author and journal editor who married her Icelandic husband, Baldur Líndal in 1949 and accompanied him to Iceland after graduating from journalism studies in Boston that same year. She lived and worked in Iceland in 1949-1972 before moving to Toronto, Canada, where she continued to work and publish. The Women’s History Archives preserves, an unpublished novel by Amalía, a sample of her work as a journal editor in Iceland and a biography and commentary on her work by her son Tryggvi V. Líndal.
