The Institute for Migration and Nationalities Photo Collection

The collection of photographs of the Institute for Migration and Nationalities is a separate unit of the named archival fund and contains thousands of photographs of various provenances and themes. A smaller part refers to migrant women. This part features women from various destination countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bolivia, Chile, Egypt, France, Germany and the United States. Migrant women were photographed in front of their homes, at work, during formal and informal gatherings and celebrations or performances, often in traditional costumes. The period spans almost a century: 1890-1980.
