    Collection title: Αρχείο Virginia R. Grace | Virginia R. Grace Papers (Greece, USA, Turkey, Cyprus: 1931–1990)

    Description: The collection contains professional correspondence, photos, rubbings and work notes of the well-known American archaeologist Virginia Randolph Grace (1901–1994), as well as her scholarly library. Grace was born in New York City in 1901. After graduating from Bryn Mawr College in 1922, she attended the American School of Classical Studies in Athens in 1927 and returned to Bryn Mawr to pursue her M.A. in Classical Archaeology. In 1930 she returned to Greece and conducted excavations in Cyprus, Pergamon and Halai. She returned to the USA during the Second World War but returned to Greece in the 1950s to continue her research. She died in 1994 in her home in Athens.
