Collection: Fonds Sonia et Robert Delaunay | Sonia and Robert Delaunay Collection (France, Ukraine: 1903–1977)
Description: This collection contains 231 boxes (90 boxes of photographs and 141 of written materials; 600 books, catalogues and periodicals). Sonia Delaunay was a French painter, who was born Sarah Elievna Stern in Ukraine in 1885 and emigrated to France in 1905 for her education and career. She died in Paris in 1979. She gathered the personal archives of both her and her husband’s artistic career. She donated her archives to the Kandinsky Library prior to her death. This fond must be referred to as Centre Pompidou/MNAM-CCI/Bibliothèque Kandinsky, Fonds Sonia et Robert Delaunay. Part of the Sonia Delaunay archival fond can be found at the National Library (BNF) at the Département des Arts du Spectacle (legs de Sonia Delaunay le 20 Février 1980. Inv: D.36054. Ref: NAF 25637-25659).
