Collection title: Nachlass familie Brunner | Bequest Brunner family (Czechoslovakia – Palestine/Israel, 1915-1966)
Description: Hilde Brunner, born Hildegard Lang in Saaz (Žatec) in 1904, was a successful German-speaking Jewish-Czech violinist. Trained at the Deutsche Musikakademie in Prague, she married Hans Brunner in 1929 and had two sons. Fleeing Czechoslovakia in 1939, the children were sent to England, while Hilde and Hans migrated to Palestine with Rassco’s support. In Palestine, they adopted the names Hila (Gila) and Hinrich Brunner. The family, considering themselves Czechs, expressed a desire to return home after World War II, but permanently settled in Palestine (later Israel). The Brunner family’s bequest includes correspondence and personal documents, shedding light on their migration experiences and Hilde’s musical career.
