    Description: The Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh holds Elsie Inglis’ personal letters and correspondence, either viewable online or in-person via a contact form. Eliza Maud « Elsie » Inglis (16 August 1864 – 26 November 1917) was a Scottish medical doctor, surgeon, teacher, suffragist, and founder of the Scottish Women’s Hospitals. Born in British India as her father worked for the East India Company, and died in England, she was the first woman to hold the Serbian Order of the White Eagle. She studied in Edinburgh and Paris, and visited the USA to improve her practice. The collection also holds her wartime letters, digitized and available online.
