Aigi Rahi-Tamm

Aigi Rahi-Tamm is Professor and Head of Department of Archival Studies at the Institute of History and Archaeology of the University of Tartu. Her research interests span the period from the 19th century Estonian national awakening movement to the end of the Estonian SSR, providing a strong basis for studying historical events over a longer period. Her research work combines different fields of study ‒ political violence in the 20th century, study and inter­pretation of sources, including memory studies, history of institutions, individual and social practices. Her studies have mainly focused on Soviet repression policy, especially forced migration, with the emphasis on investigating individual destinies and comparing personal and official action strategies.
