Maria Bostenaru graduated in 1999 from the University of Karlsruhe in Germany in architecture, with a focus on urbanism. Her scientific title is from her current work place as a researcher, where she has worked since her return in 2007, the “Ion Mincu” University of Architecture and Urbanism in her birth country of Romania. She was Marie Curie fellow at Istituto Universitario di Studi Superiori di Pavia, in Italy. After being granted a Marie Curie European Reintegration Grant to return to Romania after more than a decade abroad, she engaged first with the Marie Curie Fellows Association (MCFA) co-leading the working group on mobile women in science, engineering and technology, and then with the Marie Curie Alumni Association and she is still member of the working group on gender, diversity, equity and inclusion. Her own research in history of architecture relates to pioneer women entering the profession of (landscape) architects in the interwar time, the period she is dealing with. As such, she returned to Italy with a postdoc in Rome on secondment at Accademia di Romania on the topic of pioneer women and water hazard. Her focus was to develop, like in other projects, a decision tree on women involved in the construction projects, including architects, residents, mecenes. After her return to Romania she underwent shorter mobility and international cooperation in the frame of numerous COST actions, one of these being TA1201 genderSTE where she participated in WG3 on women and climate change as Management Committee observer from the side of the MCFA.
